Our phonics flashcards are a fantastic resource to help children start to recognise the letters and sounds they will learn in phonics. Phonics is taught in schools and pre-schools across the UK. It helps children to recognise the letters of the alphabet and the sound that each letter, or group of letters, makes. This is really important to aid children in learning to read as it helps them with segmenting and blending words.
We know for many parents phonics is a completely new idea to them, so we have included an information card that gives a summary of what phonics is and explain some of the key words used when talking about phonics.
Our phonics flashcards come in two sets, both included, which correspond with the phase two and phase three sounds taught in schools. There is a beautiful hand drawn image to go with each letter to help children recognise the sound it makes. Children can trace the letters with their fingers and use them to make words. They are an ideal resource for children from the age of 3 upwards who are just starting to learn phonics. They can be used alongside our sand writing trays so children can use the tracing stick to form the sound on the card.
We have chosen to print them on Eco-Kraft card so that the print is easily visible and the children aren’t distracted by bright colours. This is particularly helpful for children with additional learning needs.
