Our Common Exception Words flashcard set have the complete set of Year 1 and Year 2 words (these can also be bought separately). Common exception words are words that don't follow a spelling rule and can't be sounded out. Therefore they need to be learnt by sight. At the end of Key Stage 1 children will be expected to read and spell all of these words.
There are 45 words in the Year 1 set and 64 words in the Year 2 set. You can purchase them separately or together for a discounted price.
We have chosen to print the common exception words on Eco-Kraft card so that the print is easily visible and the children aren’t distracted by bright colours. This is particularly helpful for children with additional learning needs.
